Asian Soybean Rust
Identification of effector molecules of the Asian soybean rust fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi
The aim of this research project is to identify P. pachyrhizi effector molecules that can trigger different reactions in host and non-host plants:
induction of cell death in epidermal cells and
Suppression of resistance reactions in the mesophyll of host cells to establish haustoria.
These effectors are isolated from early stages of infection and the secreted proteins of Phakopsora haustoria.
